A Dental Discovery

Both of the boys have had awful colds and double ear infections this week so there's not really much to blog about over here unless you want to hear about all my methods of forcing antibiotics down their throats and drops in their ears! :) We have mostly just been hanging home trying to get them better. Soo, I'll share Brayden's latest dental discovery, since I'm sure you are all dying to know! I finally took Brayden in for his first dental visit earlier this week. He was a little nervous about it and I honestly had a hard time telling him the dentist was fun because truly I hate and dread going to the dentist more than anything! I was a little nervous about it too because at this age, when there's a problem with the teeth its all on the mom! And I will admit that I have forgotten to sometimes water down the juice, or brush his teeth twice a day, and we do let him get sprite when we go out to eat. Oh and I guess he was supposed to go to the dentist a lot sooner. Apparently they see kids at 15 months to put flouride on their teeth! Ah, I never knew! I just always thought I would wait until he was older because what toddler is going to sit still in a dentist chair with their mouth open...BB never would have!

Anyways, I took him to a kids only dentist that my aunt had recommended and I must admit, it was great. I seriously wish I could go there! They had a big play area in the waiting room and when we went to the back they let Brayden pick a movie to watch and then put it on a little flat screen that they pulled down right above him as they cleaned his teeth. They let him try out all of the dental tools before they used them on him and he left with 4 stickers and a little dog, which he currently is playing with more than his christmas toys. I will admit, I had to gag when they offered him the choices of toothpaste and out of all of them he chose cookie dough! I don't even want to imagine what cookie dough toothpaste tastes like! Gross.

So after cleaning his teeth, they took him away to try and see if he would cooperate for some x-rays. When the hygenist brought him back, she was all excited and said the dentist had something really cool to tell me. Now cool is not really a word that I have ever heard a dentist use. I was pretty sure if Brayden had some cavities or something that they wouldn't refer to them as "cool" so I wasn't sure what they were going to say. The dentist walked in and told me that Brayden has an extra baby tooth on top which is why on his right side he has a tooth that is sticking out more then the others. I had always just thought he didn't have enough room in his mouth for all of his baby teeth so he would for sure be getting braces. I never even noticed he had an extra tooth up there...I think there was a time he was getting so many in at once that I just lost track. So we'll see if he has an extra permanent one too when those start to come in.

So, its not really a big deal, just kind of "cool" like the dentist said. Seriously all I could think about while she was going on and on (and on) about this is how sad that he had to push an extra tooth through his gums when he was little! Poor baby!!! Maybe its because Ty is teething SO bad right now and he is miserable! Haha, so that was our dental discovery this week. That and apparently I am a horrible mom for not flossing my childs teeth daily which is something I haven't even mastered for myself yet. I guess we need to make this a 2010 goal or something.
And here is a picture of Tyler real quick. He LOVES to climb into everything right now and its all fun and games until he trys to get out. I was taking some pictures of him in this red bucket that he had climbed into when it suddenly just tipped over. I thought he was going to start to scream but he just laid there with his little lip sticking out. It was so sad and yet so cute at the same time because it was like he was trying so hard to be tough!

* Happy 5th! *

Happy Groundhogs day to the rest of you...

but over here we are celebrating our 5th Anniversary! That's right, we've made it 5 whole years and we are still going strong (not that I thought we wouldn't be!) I feel like we've hit a bit milestone now which is exciting...10 years, here we come!

Life just seems to be getting better every day and I feel so blessed and lucky to have Guy by my side through it all. He makes me laugh every single day and just makes life fun... I love that most about him. I love that we have doubled our family and added 2 little boys to it over the past 5 years. They are everything and I love all the adventures we have with them! I am so happy and I wish that there was a big stop button so we could just stop time and enjoy "right now" a little longer. It's flying by a little too fast for me! I'll have to put that on my wish list... I was looking at some of our wedding pictures with Brayden earlier and explaining to him that they were from before him and Ty were here. After he saw a few, he looked up at me with a huge smile on his face and said, "I didn't know you used to be Cinderella before you had me and Tyler!!!" It made me laugh and I guess its kinda true, I did feel like a princess that day! :)

Happy Anniversary Guy! I LOVE YOU with all my heart!

MLK Weekend

So I thought I'd post some pics from our MLK weekend. Guy got monday off from work so we had 3 days to hang out and enjoy the 70 degree weather!! We took the kiddos to the park and Brayden got a little bike ride in
And had some fun pushing Tyler in the swing. Ty LOVES to swing and he literally laughs the whole time he's in there.
Brayden is very proud that he can now be pushed "high" in the big kid swings
Taking Tyler down the slide. He looks a little more excited then me, huh!

On MLK day, we took the boys to the zoo. The highlight of the trip was the giraffes which have become our favorite animal at our zoo. First, because they have 2 baby ones and second, because of these pictures:
You might have to enlarge them but do you see this giraffe's tongue!!!
Isn't that nasty! I had no idea their tongues were black and so long. It was kinda creepy!
Sweet little ty ty
The best way to see the elephants :) Brayden roaring like the lion
Feeding the birds the seed sticks
I love this picture of them peeking at the monkeys
I apologize for all the animal pictures. Guy will make fun of me for posting them but I seriously can't resist! I love the zoo :)
Almost big enough, but not quite!
"Maybe when I'm 4 mom!"

We haven't really been up to much else this month. Guy played in a church basketball tournament last weekend and had fun doing that. We are both starting to train for another race in april. Guy is going to run a full marathon (again) and I am going to run a half this time so we'll see how that goes. Brayden will be starting 3 year old spring soccer soon and Guy is looking into maybe coaching which would be fun. And Ty turns 1 in less then a month which is seriously freaking me out because this year has flown by way too fast for me. He is starting to stand and balance for a few seconds at a time but no steps yet. So we are all doing good here and enjoying the nice weather outside. I think I'm gonna have a rough time next winter if we move somewhere cold again that actually has "real" winters! I've gotten pretty used to wearing flip flops year round :)

One year older

I had a great birthday last week. One year older, right. Guy and the boys took me out to dinner for it and we were so stuffed after eating that none of us really felt like birthday cake (well except for Brayden, of course!) So Guy picked up a really small cake just so I could blow out the candles. As we were putting the candles in, BB ran to his room and got his 'Sally' car and put it on my cake. He told me I could only have that one cause it was his only girl car! So funny. I love how he thinks every birthday cake has to have cars on it just like his did when he turned 3! :) Tyler was fascinated by the candles...can't wait until next month when he turns 1! I can't even believe how fast this year has gone! Guy gave me the prettiest roses for my birthday Tyler just got his first hair cut this weekend! I was happy to say goodbye to his baby mullet!
Here's a before shot
And after...he looks so much older now!
Brayden has been busy working hard on this dinosaur egg he got for Christmas. You have to use tools and dig out the little dino. Its been great because it keeps him quiet and busy for so long! I am seriously loving it and I hope he never gets that dino out so the quiet doesn't end!
And this is BB's other favorite thing to do...my parents got him a preschool wii game for Christmas which he is loving. Its funny cause he'll come up to me and tell me that he needs to do his wiischool for the day. Haha, I just love that he calls it wiischool!

Best way to shop

I really hate pushing these huge shopping carts around the grocery store but its a fact that my boys are a lot better when there is a steering wheel in front of them. Anything to keep them happy, right?
And I just thought these were cute. Guy's secretary gave the boys a mickey mouse clubhouse tent for Christmas and they love it! They take all their toys inside and play in it forever! I just had to laugh when I peeked inside and saw Tyler's hair going crazy (you've gotta click on the pics to see it full screen-its worth it!) I think its time for his first hair cut! :)
