Spooky Dinner, Pumpkins, and Beach Sunsets

We had a great Halloween filled weekend. The boys had some fun at a little festival they had going on in our neighborhood.
Brayden, for some reason, told his whole kindergarten class that he was having a halloween party this year at his house.  Ya, he forgot to mention that to me before telling them...kids are so funny! Not really in my plans being soo pregnant, but we compromised and had a little family one. We had a spooky dinner with mummy hot dogs, bones and blood breadsticks, pumpkin applesauce (just dyed orange with food coloring), and frankenstein pudding. Not very fancy or filling, but the kids really liked it. I take no credit for these ideas...all from pintrest, gotta love it!
The boys made skeletons out of Q-tips for a craft. Tyler's is the top one and Brayden did the bottom one.
We carved our pumpkins for the year
Pumpkin guts...love Brayden's face in this one
Silly Brayden scooped his out one seed at a time...Guy eventually helped him out so we could finally start carving!
The boys had fun drawing on them first with markers
Here they are all done! We made a baby one for the new baby coming soon :)
And we decided to end our weekend by heading to the beach on Sunday night to watch the sunset. It was gorgeous, like always.  Super windy by the ocean so Tyler wouldn't get out from under the towel on my lap, but Brayden had fun running around with Guy.  We don't really get the changing colors of fall leaves here, but at least we get to see the colors in the sky, right? :) The perfect weather time of year in Florida is finally beginning and I love it!
And I figured I better post a picture from the weekend to prove I actually am pregnant and about to pop. I felt really dorky posing by myself so I made the kids join me. Hopefully this baby will be here soon (3 cm and 75% at 38 weeks, so I'm hoping!) But I want a November baby for the birthday since it's 11/11 this year...wouldn't 11/11/11 be such a cool birthday? Past my due date, but I could settle for the 1st. Just not Halloween please!!! :)

Neighborhood Fun Run and 5K

On May 6 our neighborhood hosted a family fun run and 5K. It was in the evening and so we decided it would be a fun thing to do. Brayden signed up to run the 1 mile fun run and he was SO excited. He spent all week "training" for it and eating healthy, as he liked to put it. Here he is before the race all ready to go.
It was a cinco de mayo themed race so people were supposed to run in sombreros. We didn't make one in time but we did get a picture by the sombrero guy. It was this giant inflatable that really had someone in it, walking around. All I could think the whole time is, man whoever is in there has to be sooo hot! I can only imagine!
At the starting line with Daddy
And they're off! You have to click on this picture and make it bigger to see Brayden's face up close! It cracks me up!
Brayden was way ahead of Guy! Go Brayden!!!
Once they were out of sight on the 1 mile course, Tyler and I just hung out by the finish line. He had a little running race of his own on the sidewalk :)
I was expecting it to be awhile before Brayden came to the finish line. I thought for sure since he ran so fast at first that he would be doing a lot of walking since a mile is pretty far for a 4, almost 5 year old. So I was completely shocked when I turned around and there was Brayden and Guy running our way to the finish line.  In fact I had to do a double take because it had only been about 10 minutes! I can hardly run a mile that fast anymore!!! Only 5 other people had finished and they were all much older kids. Everyone started cheering like crazy for "that little kid" who was running so fast!
Of course I got all proud and teary eyed when I saw them run by. Typical mom thing to do, right! Brayden's face was all flushed and I could tell how tired he was but he was trying to sprint to the finish line. It was just the cutest thing I've ever seen!
 Woohoo, crossing the finish line!
Brayden came in 6th in the race and 1st in his age group, which he is very proud of! Guy said he was hilarious during the race and he would keep saying over and over, "I have to keep up with those big kids in front of me" and "Dad, hold my hand so I can run faster!" Guy kept telling him he could walk if he was feeling tired, but he just wouldn't do it. He also claims that he could run so fast because of the gatorade he drank along the way. In case you didn't know, Gatorade automatically makes you have energy, according to Brayden. Sure wish it worked that way for me. He couldn't wipe the smile off his face after the race and it was fun to see him feel so good about himself.
They had a bounce house obstacle course set up at the festival after the race, so I took the boys over there while Guy randomly decided he wanted to run the 5K.  Typical Guy :)
Brayden had so much trouble making it to the top of this slide, but he finally made it down :)
The boys had so much fun, but I had a scary moment of almost passing out while we were there. Something like that has never happened to me before and it really freaked me out! I started getting really dizzy and everything got blurry and then all the sounds around me got muffled.  But my mind was working totally fine and I just kept thinking to myself, "Please don't pass out" over and over because I knew it would create a huge scene and I had no idea where Guy was and when he would be done running. So I sat down right where I was at even though Tyler was screaming on the bounce house for me to help him and Brayden was who knows where. Luckily I was able to get myself up ok and grab the kids and head to the car, where we waited for Guy. I think I just got too hot being out in the sun for so long and not drinking water.  I definitely need to start bringing my own water with me everywhere.....I always remember sippy cups for the kids, but not me!
When we finally saw Guy he came and told us he came in 2nd place in the 5K....granted this wasn't a huge race, but still 2nd place is 2nd place! I was sad we missed him crossing the finish line :(

Gosh, I was so proud of both my boys that day! They were both feeling pretty good about themselves that night and it was fun to see :)
